Dominic Calabrese explains why you should join a publicity club. He talks about the goals of a publicity club, what takes place during meetings, and the benefits of joining.

Dominic is an award-winning public relations professional. He is currently the Senior Vice President of Public Relations at the Chicago Lighthouse. Under his leadership, The Lighthouse’s public relations department has won eight Golden Trumpet Awards and three Silver Trumpet Awards for outstanding achievement from the Publicity Club of Chicago.

Among his major accomplishments is placing a front-page profile of The Lighthouse’s clock-making operation in the Wall Street Journal. In addition to overseeing public relations for The Lighthouse, Dominic is an adjunct professor at Columbia College Chicago. He is also President of the Publicity Club of Chicago, the nation’s largest independent public relations organization.

Tara Wolfe discusses how to engage your community to build your audience. She talks about their acts of kindness program, how they make each of their productions individually self-sustaining, and how they structure their productions to support the community.

Tara is the Founder and Producing Artistic Director of Human, Kind Theater Project. She received her BFA with Dual Honors in Directing, Playwriting, and Production with an emphasis in Directing from the University of the Arts in 2015. She has spent the last ten years studying theater, and after practicing her craft in Philadelphia, San Diego, and Denver, she set her sights on developing a new type of theater company that integrates accessibility, community kindness, and artistic excellence. In addition to her role at Human, Kind, Tara's work as a director, improviser, and teaching artist can be seen all over Colorado.

John Pyka discusses character development for the solo performer. He talks about why it is important to have a character, how he came up with Big Daddy Cool, and teaches his 12 step program of character development.

For nearly 30 years, John has been entertaining audiences around the world with his distinctive theatrical fusion of vocal music, magic, and situational comedy with larger-than-life characters. He is an award-winning actor, singer, and magician who has appeared on MTV, A&E, ABC, PBS, and the BBC. He has also appeared with the touring production of the Broadway Musical “Closer Than Ever” and as “Big Daddy Cool” in the Off-Broadway production of Swingin' At The Roxy.

John has played some of the great characters in theater like The Cowardly Lion, Jud Fry, Rooster Hannigan, Marryin' Sam, Norman Bulansky, Buffalo Bill, and Mr. Bumble. He has created several original characters, including the 1940s swing magician Big Daddy Cool, the past-his-prime vaudevillian Uncle Eddie Sparks, and the World Heavyweight Champion strongman Johnny Awesome!

John is the creator and producer of popular variety shows like The Magic Cabaret, Opry Mills Olde Time Family Theater, The Opry Mills Holiday Family Theater, and Music City Magic. He is also the producer and host of the Dieselpunk Podcast, The Voice of Dieselpunk He is also the producer and host of the weekly YouTube web-show The Roll N Go Game Review Show. John has authored 4 books on magic, including the best-seller Theatrical Magic.

Carol Jackson discusses 10 tips for your post-show discussion. She talks about the benefits of post-show discussions, how to organize them, and the best ways to get the audience involved.

Carol is the co-founder of Minnesota Theatre Love. Carol and her sister Julie started the blog in 2014 with the goal of highlighting all of the amazing theatres in the Twin Cities. In the past three years, they have written over 230 posts about must see shows and marketing strategies. In the 90s, Carol worked in the box offices at the Fitzgerald Theater and Park Square Theatre for over a decade. She is currently a librarian at the Ramsey County Library in St. Paul.
